Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya in Odisha Budget 2025-26
On 17th February 2025, Finance Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has presented Odisha Budget 2025-26. While delivering the budget speech, the hon’ble FM said “Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya, inspired by the legacy of Satyabadi Bakul Bana Vidyalaya, is an ambitious initiative of our Government to establish holistic learning centres at the Panchayat level. Around 7000 elementary schools will be upgraded and equipped with advanced infrastructure, learning resources, and life skills education to develop children’s linguistic and arithmetic skills, preparing them for higher education. I propose to provide Rs. 2960 crore under the scheme for 2025-26”.
About Godabarish Mishra Adarsh Prathmik Vidyalaya Yojana 2025
Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya Yojana would be launched to transform the primary education system in Odisha state. This announcement has been made by CM Mohan Charan Majhi while reviewing the activities of the School and Mass Education department at the Lok Seva Bhawan on 6th November 2024. Under the new scheme, modern primary school buildings will be constructed across all the panchayats of the state. A total of 6,794 new schools are proposed to be set up.
The new Godabarish Mishra Adarsh Prathmik Vidyalaya Yojana aims to create ideal learning environment inspired by the ideals and legacy of Satyabadi Vana Vidyalaya. The main focus of Odisha govt. would be on enhancing children’s linguistic and arithmetic skills to make them better prepared for higher education.
CM said the initiative will strengthen foundational learning and foster intellectual development of young students through quality infrastructure, holistic education and a supportive learning environment. Sports, physical activities and cultural education will also be given importance.
Facilities in Godabarish Mishra Model Primary Schools
Majhi said the new modern primary schools to be developed under Godabarish Mishra Adarsh Prathmik Vidyalaya Yojana will have the following facilities:-
Dedicated classrooms,
Separate toilets for boys and girls,
Boundary walls,
Green spaces,
Digital libraries,
Language laboratories,
Playgrounds,
Dining halls,
Computers,
Smart boards and
Other facilities.
Sports, physical fitness and social and cultural education will also be integrated into the curriculum. Improvement of the mid-day meal system and development of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs) were also discussed.
Key Features of Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya Yojana
Each panchayat will have atleast 1 state of the art primary school.
A total of 6794 schools will be constructed under Godabarish Mishra Adarsh Prathmik Vidyalaya Yojana.
Old schools over 100 years old will be upgraded.
A total of 45 heritage schools will be developed.
