Odisha government has launched Gangadhar Meher Shikshya Manakbrudhi Yojana 2025 to check the dropout rate and encourage students to complete secondary education. This is done by supplying free bi-cycle to all students studying in Class 9 of government, govt aided, block grant high schools, sanskrit tols and madrasa. Class 6th to 8th students will get free books and school uniform (including shoes) while class 1st to 5th students will get an additional free school bags.

Gangadhar Meher Shikshya Manakbrudhi Yojana in Odisha Budget 2025-26
On 17th February 2025, Finance Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has presented Odisha Budget 2025-26. While delivering the budget speech, the hon’ble FM said “Under Gangadhar Meher Shikshya Manakbrudhi Yojana, Rs. 193 crore is proposed for free bicycles for Class IX students, and Rs. 194 crore is allocated for uniforms for Class I to VIII students during 2025-26. Gangadhar Meher Shikshya Manakbrudhi Yojana in Odisha Budget 2024-25
On 8th February 2024, Finance Minister presented Odisha Budget 2024-25. While delivering the budget speech, FM said “Under Gangadhar Meher Shikshya Manakbrudhi Yojana, Rs. 191 crore has been proposed for supply of Free Bi-Cycle and Rs. 199 crore for supply of uniform to all students of Class-I to VIII, during the Year 2024-25”.
Gangadhar Meher Shikshya Manakbrudhi Yojana In Odisha Budget 2023-24
On 24th Feb 2023, Finance minister presented Odisha Budget 2023-24. While delivering the budget speech, FM said “Gangadhar Meher Shikshya Manakbrudhi Yojana is implemented to check the dropout rate and encourage the beneficiaries to complete secondary education which includes supply of free bi-cycle to all students studying in Class 9 of government, govt aided, block grant high schools, sanskrit tols and madrasa. It is proposed to increase the present rate of Rs. 2600 to Rs. 3500 during the financial year 2023-24. For this, an amount of Rs. 155 crore has been proposed for the year 2023-24”.
FM also said “It is proposed to enhance the amount for provision of school uniform and accessories from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1000 during 2023-24. Further, it is proposed to supply Uniform (including accessories) to all students studying in Class 9th & 10th of Govt. and Government Aided Schools during 2023-2024”.

Swabhaba kabi Gangadhara Meher (Odia: ସ୍ୱଭାବକବି ଗଙ୍ଗାଧର ମେହେର) was a renowned Odia poet of the 19th century. Though poor in wealth and education, he remained one of the most prolific and original contributor to Odia literature.
