Namo Shree Yojana has been launched by Gujarat government to benefit around 6 lakh pregnant women. Under this Namo Shri Yojana, the state govt. will provide Rs. 12,000 as financial assistance to pregnant ladies. What is Namo Shree Yojana of Gujarat?
Three schemes are currently being implemented with an aim to reduce maternal and child mortality by providing adequate nutrition to pregnant women.
- Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana of the Central Government, there is a provision of ₹ 5,000 at the first pregnancy and ₹ 6,000 for the birth of a girl child during the second pregnancy.
- Under the Kasturba Poshan Sahay Yojana of the State Government ST, SC and BPL category women are given the benefit twice if they have an institutional delivery at a government hospital of ₹ 6,000. Whereas in the Government of India scheme, apart from the above three categories, a total of 11 categories including NFSA card holders, beneficiaries of PMJAY, divyang women, women with e-shram cards, women with MGNREGA job cards, women farmers under the Kisan Samman Nidhi, women with a family annual income of less than ₹8 lakhs etc. are also given the benefit.
- The Janani Suraksha Yojana of the Government of India provides single time assistance of ₹ 600 in urban areas and ₹ 700 in rural areas to pregnant women . At present, a total of ₹ 6,000 is provided to pregnant women for the first two deliveries by combining the two schemes as per the qualification of the above category. Out of the 12 lakh pregnant women in the state, 4.5 lakh pregnant women are delivered in government institutions, out of which about 3.5 lakh women included in the above category get the benefit of this scheme.
In Namo Shree Yojana, Gujarat govt. has increased the total assistance from ₹6,000 to ₹ 12,000 in 11 categories as decided by the Government of India i.e. ST, SC, and BPL card holders, NFSA card holders, beneficiaries of PMJAY, divyang women in both government or private hospitals.
In the Namo Shri Yojana, the assistance of Janani Suraksha Yojana will also be included. Under this scheme, additional assistance of the State will be given in the prescribed limit in the existing scheme of the Center. A total expenditure of ₹ 750 crores will be incurred for this.

5 Stages for Namo Shri Scheme Assistance
Women beneficiaries will be provided the financial assistance in five stages as mentioned below:-
- The first will be when she registers as being pregnant,
- Second when the women completes six months of pregnancy,
- Third when there is an institutional delivery,
- Fourth when the child is vaccinated and
- Fifth when the woman is eligible for assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
Women whose pregnancies are categorized as “very high risk” will get an assistance of Rs 15,000. They will be admitted on priority in district and civil hospitals, including UN Mehta Hospital, GCRI and IKRDC.

A sum of Rs. 53 crore has been allotted by the Gujarat government under the Namo Shree Yojana for 2024-25.
