Gujarat government has launched Mukhyamantri Shramik Basera Yojana earlier on 18th July 2024 for which more funds are allocated in the recently presented budget. This new scheme aims to provide lodging facilities equipped with basic amenities near work place to construction workers (nirman shramik). Shramik Basera Yojana aims to provide accommodation to registered construction workers in temporary prefabricated housing with basic amenities that can be dismantled. The registered laborer has to present the identity card/smart card (e-Nirman card) as a construction worker to get assistance and the identity card/smart card should be renewed on time. Prefabricated temporary accommodation for the laborers will be constructed near their work place/ Kadianaka. The employee can avail the benefits by visiting there or by booking online on the Samman portal https://sanman.gujarat.gov.in/
Mukhyamantri Shramik Basera Yojana Eligibility
The construction workers registered with the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Board and their families will be eligible to benefit from this scheme.
E-Nimana Card is the sole document required to avail benefits of Mukhyamantri Shramik Basera Yojana.
Accommodation facility will be provided to the laborers at the rate of five rupees per day.
CM Bhupendra Patel on Shramik Basera Yojana 2025
CM Bhupendra Patel wrote on X “Under the Shramik Basera Yojana, the state government aims to provide accommodation facilities to around 3 lakh laborers by preparing temporary accommodation near various Kadianakas of Gujarat in the next three years. The workers will get accommodation facilities including clean water, a kitchen, electricity, CCTV, toilets, street lights, security, sanitation, and medical facilities”.
“Along with the housing facilities, food will also be provided under Shramik Annapurna Yojana and facilities including free health check-ups will also be arranged,” CM wrote in Gujarati in a post on X. He said, the move is aimed at bringing about a qualitative change in the living standard of workers from the unorganised sector and construction workers, by providing them with food, health, housing and financial support.
Shramik Basera Yojana in Gujarat Budget 2025-26
Gujarat’s Finance Minister, Shri Kanu Desai, presented the Budget 2025-26 digitally on 20th February 2025 using the National eVidhan Application (NeVA) at the State Assembly. It marks a significant step towards paperless governance. While delivering the budget speech, FM said “To provide basic residential facilities to the labourers at their work sites, I propose a provision of ₹ 200 crore under Mukhyamantri Shramik Basera Yojana”.
