Gujarat government has launched Kisan Suryoday Yojana (KSY) to provide electricity to farmers during day time. Under this scheme, the state govt. will provide electricity supply from 5 a.m to 9 p.m. This scheme uses solar and non-conventional energy sources to ensure a reliable and eco-friendly power supply. The scheme is implemented in phases, as solar and alternative energy generation plants are operationalized.
The main objective of Kisan Suryoday Yojana is to meet the power demands of farmers for agricultural activities. It would help in increasing productivity and income of farmers.

Kisan Suryoday Yojana in Gujarat Budget 2025-26
Gujarat’s Finance Minister, Shri Kanu Desai, presented the Budget 2025-26 digitally on 20th February 2025 using the National eVidhan Application (NeVA) at the State Assembly. It marks a significant step towards paperless governance. While delivering the budget speech, FM said “Our Government has always been sensitive towards Annadata (Farmers) who are the providers of the world. Farmers face danger from venomous insects and wild animals while irrigating the farms at night. Under the able guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Minister to address these challenges, we have introduced the Kisan Suryodaya Yojana, which aims to provide daytime power so that the farmers do not need to work at night time. This initiative has successfully delivered electricity to farmers during daylight hours in 16,683 villages, i.e. 97 percent of the villages. To further strengthen this Yojana, I allocate ₹ 2,175 crore”.
What is Kisan Suryoday Yojana (KSY)?
Kisan Suryoday Yojana was implemented from the year 2020-2021 by the Gujarat govt. by adopting an innovative approach to provide agricultural electricity during the day to meet the demand of farmers. It aims to provide agricultural electricity during the day and to maximise the use of solar energy, under which it is planned to provide power supply to the agricultural sector during the day from 5.00 am to 9.00 pm. As soon as the solar energy/non-conventional energy generation plants are operational the Kisan Suryoday Yojana will be implemented in a phased manner.
Kisan Suryoday Yojana Application Process
- Visit the nearest electricity board office.
- Obtain the Kisan Suryoday Yojana application form 2025.
- Fill out the KSY form with accurate details and attach the required documents.
- Submit the application online or at the designated office.
Kisan Suryoday Yojana Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be a resident of Gujarat.
- Applicant must be a farmer or engaged in agricultural activities.
List of Documents Required for KSY
- Identity proof (Aadhaar card, Voter ID, or equivalent).
- Proof of land ownership.
- Recent passport-sized photographs.
- Any other documents (if required).
Other Important Schemes
- Kisan Hit Urja Shakti Yojana (KHUSHY) – Under the Kisan Hit Urja Shakit Yojana (khusy) the process of decommissioning the light pressure line network is undertaken by setting up small capacity distribution transformers. To prevent unauthorized electrical loads and to prevent tampering with light-pressure power lines. The main objective of this scheme is to gradually reduce light pressure lines, creating a network without light pressure lines.
- Surya Gujarat (Surya Urja Rooftop Yojana) – Gujarat ranks first in the country for installation of Solar Rooftops. Surya Gujarat scheme was launched for the purpose of providing relief in electricity bills to residential consumers. A total of 1,37,914 Solar Rooftop systems with an aggregate capacity of 550.19 MW were installed during the year.
- Kutir Jyoti scheme – ST beneficiaries mentioned in the BPL list available on the Village Development Department website and additionally all Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries whose maximum annual income is Rs. 1,20,000 for rural areas and Rs. 1,50,000 for urban areas are covered under this scheme. As this scheme is limited to tribal areas are enough, the list of beneficiaries is to be supplied by the sponsoring officer to the concerned power company. The beneficiary has to pay the electricity bill according to the electricity consumption. Funds are allocated as grants by the state government. Under this scheme a free-of-cost household connection with single-point wiring is provided.
- Sardar Krishi Jyoti Yojana – The main objective of this SKJY scheme is to provide good service to the consumers by providing quality power supply by replacing existing old dilapidated power wires / conductors and related goods of the agricultural feeders and if necessary by dividing the agricultural feeders.
