Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana in HP Budget 2025-26
On 17th March 2025, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu who is also the Finance Minister presented Himachal Pradesh Budget 2025-26. While delivering the HP Budget Speech 2025-2026, the hon’ble Finance Minister said “Under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana launched by the HP Government, eligible women between the ages of 18 and 59 are provided ₹1,500 per month. My Government is committed to ensure benefits of the state resources to those sections which have remained deprived of them so. In the upcoming financial year, the scheme will be implemented in phases, and eligible daughters who turn 21 years old between January 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, will receive ₹1,500 per month under this scheme.”
Finance Minister added “Additionally, women who work in others’ homes to support their families will also start benefiting from this scheme starting June 1, 2025. Their eligible daughters will also be entitled to ₹1,500 per month. In the future, all women approved by the panchayat will gradually be included in the scheme. The daughters of the widows will also be eligible for getting benefit of this scheme. Further, if the daughters of the widows are willing to persue professional courses, entire expenditure on account of tuition and hostel fees will be borned by the Government. If the girl child stays in PG accommodation, an assistance of ₹3000 per month will be provided for 10 months in a year. An expenditure of ₹200 crore is expected to be incurred under this scheme during the upcoming financial year.”
Furthermore, Finance Minister also said “Inclusion of every girl turning 21 between January 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana. Women working as domestic helpers will also be benefited under this scheme starting June 1, 2025.”

Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Yojana Status Check
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu distributed a sum of Rs. 97,69,500 to 2,171 eligible women of Kupvi area under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh-Samman Nidhi Yojana during a function held at Kupvi Sub-Division in Shimla District on 13th Dec 2024.
The Chief Minister said that the rules under Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh-Samman Nidhi Yojana would be modified to address the unique challenges of Kupvi keeping in view the remote and difficult terrain of the area. He said that under the revised scheme all women in this region, excluding working women would receive a monthly allowance of Rs. 1,500.
It is worth noting that the HP state govt. provides Rs. 1500 every month to women in the age group of 18 to 59 years under Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Yojana.
