Gig Workers ID Card Registration Form 2025 invited online at eshram.gov.in portal and at common service centres (CSC’s). Around 1 crore gig workers of online platforms can now make E Shram Portal Registration to get new ID card for themselves. With the help of this identity card, gig workers would be able to get benefits of social security and healthcare schemes launched by central government. Gig Workers ID Card in Union Budget 2025-26

On 1st Feb 2025, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented Union Budget 2025-26. While delivering the budget speech, FM said “Gig workers of online platforms provide great dynamism to the new-age services economy. Recognising their contribution, our Government will arrange for their identity cards and registration on the e-Shram portal. They will be provided healthcare under PM Jan Arogya Yojana. This measure is likely to assist nearly 1 crore gig-workers.”

The hon’ble Finance Minister also announced the govt’s decision to launch a scheme for for the socio-economic development for urban workers, during her speech. Several studies have indicated the need for regulating the gig-based workers economy, with demands including social security net and regular working hours.

Gig Workers ID Card Registration Form 2025

  • In order to apply online for Gig Workers ID Card, visit the e Shram official website https://eshram.gov.in/
  • On the homepage, click at the “Register on eShram” tab.
  • Direct link for Gig Workers ID Card Registration – https://register.eshram.gov.in/#/user/self
  • Upon clicking the link, the page to apply online for Gig Workers ID Card will get displayed.

  • Enter active mobile no. linked with aadhar number, captcha and click at “Send OTP” button.
  • Validate OTP and proceed to fill details to complete Gig Workers ID Card apply online process.
  • On completion of Gig Workers ID Card registration, UAN is allotted to each applicant.
  • Universal Account Number is a 12 digits number uniquely assigned to each gig worker of online platform after registration on eSHRAM portal.

Note: UAN number will be a permanent number i.e. once assigned, it will remain unchanged for the entire gig worker’s lifetime.

Gig Workers ID Card Registration at CSC

Gig workers of online platforms must register himself/herself through visiting on eSHRAM portal or through assisted approach by visiting nearest CSC’s. The applicant gig workers are not required to submit any document at the CSC’s. They are required to carry their Aadhaar number, mobile number and bank account details along with IFSC code to register for registration along with Bank Account Details. Gig Workers Identity Registration Start / Last Date

Gig workers can register on eSHRAM portal 24×7. There is no last date for gig workers ID card registration.

Eligibility Criteria for Gig Workers ID Card Registration

  • Each gig worker of online platform working in the service sector is eligible to apply.
  • He/She should not be a member of ESIC or EPFO.
  • The applicant gig worker must lie in the age group of 16 to 59 years to become eligible to register on the eSHRAM portal for issuance of new ID card.

Note: Gig Worker do not need to take any action after attaining the age of 60. He/ she will continue to get benefits under eSHRAM project, he/she is entitled for.

List of Documents Required to Apply for Gig Workers ID Card

Following is required by the worker to register for Gig Workers Identity Card on the eSHRAM portal:-

  • Aadhaar number
  • Age Proof
  • Mobile number linked to their aadhar card
  • Bank account details

Furthermore, if a gig worker does not have Aadhaar linked mobile number, he/ she can visit nearest CSC and register through Biometric authentication.
