Mukhyamantri Gau Mata Poshan Yojana in Gujarat Budget 2025-26
Gujarat’s Finance Minister, Shri Kanu Desai, presented the Budget 2025-26 digitally on 20th February 2025 using the National eVidhan Application (NeVA) at the State Assembly. It marks a significant step towards paperless governance. While delivering the budget speech, FM said that Cattle breeders receive the maximum benefit of various assistance schemes of the Government like setting up dairy farms, goat unit, poultry farm, cattle shed for cattle, chaffcutter and assistance for cattle-feed. Finance Minister made the following allocations for various schemes of Animal Husbandry department of Gujarat state.
A total provision of ₹ 475 crore under Mukhya Mantri Gau Mata Poshan Yojana.
A provision of ₹ 45 crore under Mukhya Mantri Nishulk Pashu Sarvar to provide fast treatment to the animals at 2,089 Government Veterinary Institutions in the state.
A provision of ₹ 34 crore for 250 new veterinary clinics and 150 new mobile veterinary clinics to increase the coverage of animal health services in the state.
A provision of ₹ 23 crore for setting up state-of-the-art facilities at Dharampur, Porbandar for genetically improved breeding and conservation of Gir cow.
A provision of ₹ 13 crore for organizing more than 18 thousand camps for the treatment of infertility in cattle in the state.
A provision of ₹ 12 crore to support the cattle breeders to raise calves in a scientific manner for two years after the birth.
Last year, finance minister presented Gujarat Budget 2024-25 on 2 February 2024 in which govt. has made a provision of Rs. 425 crore under Mukhya Mantri Gaumata Poshan Yojana.

Need for Mukhya Mantri Gau Mata Poshan Yojana
Cow has immense importance in the Indian culture. Cow protection and cow rearing is paramount since the ages of Dwarikadhish Lord Shri Krishna. The State Government is active for the protection and conservation of cows. Non-government and voluntary organizations are contributing significantly along with the government, for preservation and protection of the cows. Panjarapoles and Gaushalas in the state are taking care of thousands of cows and other animals.
To fulfil the resolve of the Gujarat government towards cows, a scheme named Mukhyamantri Gau Mata Poshan Yojna has been launched. This scheme is announced for the operations and maintenance of Gaushalas and Panjarapoles. Regarding this scheme, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel has expressed the clear view that it is the need of the hour to live a life where Jivdaya is not only a life-giving activity but a part of life.
Furthermore CM said that while the greatness of Gau Mata is also described in our culture, the state government has given priority to the service, compassion and empathy towards all the cattle, including Gaumata.
