E Shram Card registration 2024 process begins online at eshram.gov.in portal and at common service centres (CSC’s), know how to apply for issuance of new eshram card. The new e shram card initiative by central govt would benefit unorganised sector workers who are employed in gainful employment. With e Shram Card, the registered unorganised workers can avail the benefits of various social security schemes as well as employment schemes meant for them. It would help in improving life and dignity of labour force of country. E Shram Card Registration 2024 at eshram.gov.in Portal

  • Firstly, visit the e Shram official website https://eshram.gov.in/
  • On the homepage, click at the “Register on eShram” tab as shown below:-

  • Upon clicking the link, the page to apply online for e Shram Card will get displayed.

  • Enter active mobile no. linked with aadhar number, captcha and click at “Send OTP” button.
  • Validate OTP and proceed to fill details to complete e Shram card apply online process.
  • On completion of e shram card registration, UAN is allotted to each applicant.
  • Universal Account Number is a 12 digits number uniquely assigned to each unorganized worker after registration on eSHRAM portal.

Note: UAN number will be a permanent number i.e. once assigned, it will remain unchanged for the worker’s lifetime.

E-Shram Card Registration at CSC

An Unorganized worker may register himself/herself through visiting on eSHRAM portal or through assisted approach by visiting nearest CSC’s. Worker are not required any document at the CSC’s. They are required to carry their Aadhaar number, Mobile number and bank account details along with IFSC code to register for registration along with Bank Account Details. Find your nearest CSC Centre for assisted registration.

e Shram Card Registration Start / Last Date

You can register on eSHRAM portal 24×7. There is no last date for e shram card registration.

Eligibility Criteria for eShram Card Registration

  • Worker who is either a home-based worker or self-employed worker or a wage worker working in the unorganized sector is eligible to apply.
  • He/She should not be a member of ESIC or EPFO.
  • Any worker whose age is between 16 years to 59 years, is eligible to register on the eSHRAM portal.

Note: Worker do not need to take any action after attaining the age of 60. He/ she will continue to get benefits under eSHRAM project, he/she is entitled for.

List of Documents Required to Apply for e-shram Card

Following is required by the worker to register on the eSHRAM portal:-

  • Aadhaar Number
  • Mobile number, Aadhaar linked
  • Bank account

Furthermore, if a worker does not have Aadhaar linked mobile number, he/ she can visit nearest CSC and register through Biometric authentication.

Update Details in eShram Card

Any worker who is employed in gainful employment in the unorganized sector can apply online for e shram card. This card has a permanent number which is valid for lifetime. There is no need to renew the eSHRAM card. However, workers are required to update their accounts at-least once in a year. Once registered, a worker may update his details such as mobile number, current address, occupation, educational qualification, skill types, family details etc. through visiting on eSHRAM portal or nearest CSC’s.

If you want to update your mobile number, than you can directly call the helpdesk number and after verifying your credentials, your mobile number on the eSHRAM portal will be updated. Alternatively, you can visit eSHRAM portal or nearest CSC/ SSK’s to update mobile number.

Objectives of e Shram Card

  • Creation of a centralized database of all unorganized workers (UWs) including Construction Workers, Migrant Workers, Gig and Platform workers, Street Vendors, Domestic Workers, Agriculture Workers, etc., to be seeded with Aadhaar.
  • To improve the implementation efficiency of the social security services for the unorganized workers. Integration of Social Security Schemes meant for UWs being administered by MoLE and subsequently those run by other ministries as well.
  • Sharing of information in respect of registered unorganised workers with various stakeholders such as Ministries/ Departments/ Boards/ Agencies/ Organisations of the Central & State Governments through APIs for delivery of various social security and welfare schemes being administered by them.
  • Portability of the social security and welfare benefits to the migrant and construction workers.
  • Providing a comprehensive database to Central and State Governments for tackling any National Crises like COVID-19 in future.

e Shram Card in Union Budget 2024-25

Finance Minister presented Union Budget 2024-25 on 23rd July 2024. While delivering the budget speech, FM said “Our government will facilitate the provision of a wide array of services to labour, including those for employment and skilling. A comprehensive integration of e-shram portal with other portals will facilitate such one-stop solution. Open architecture databases for the rapidly changing labour market, skill requirements and available job roles, and a mechanism to connect job-aspirants with potential employers and skill providers will be covered in these services”.

About eshram.gov.in Portal

Ministry of Labour & Employment has developed eShram portal for creating a National Database of Unorganized Workers (NDUW). This database would be seeded with Aadhaar number. It will have details of name, occupation, address, occupation type, educational qualification, skill types etc. for optimum realization of their employability and extend the benefits of the social security schemes to workers. It is the first-ever national database of unorganised workers including migrant workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers, etc.

Central government wants to improve life and dignity of unorganised sector workers. It is done by protecting & safeguarding the interest of workers, promotion of welfare and providing social security to the Labour force in unorganized sector by enactment and implementation of various Labour Laws.
