Bihar government has started Janani Bal Suraksha Yojana registration 2025 process to provide assistance to pregnant women. Bihar Janani Bal Suraksha Yojana Latest Update

From 1 February 2025, the incentive amount for institutional deliveries under the Janani Bal Suraksha Yojana (JBSY) will only be paid through the JBSY portal. Bihar’s Health Minister has launched the JBSY DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) Portal on 15th January 2025 from Bapu Sabhagar. It would ensure that the incentive amount reaches the beneficiary’s account within 48 hours. In order to promote institutional deliveries and prevent maternal & infant mortality in Bihar, the Janani Bal Suraksha Yojana will now directly transfer the incentive amount to the beneficiary’s account.

The system for transferring the incentive amount through this portal has been started in 88 health institutions. As of January 20, a total of 25,448 women had registered on the JBSY DBT portal. Among them, 18,895 deliveries have been completed, with 8,568 baby girls born. Under the JBSY scheme, rural women who undergo institutional deliveries receive ₹1400, while urban women are given ₹1000 as an incentive. As of November 2024-25, a total of 10,69,923 institutional deliveries have taken place in both urban and rural areas of the state.

In order to avail the benefits of Janani Bal Suraksha Yojana, pregnant women must register for their delivery and child’s birth at government hospitals in Bihar state. This could be done with the help of ASHA workers. Women who are successfully registered shall be eligible for the full benefits of the Bihar JBSY scheme.

Assistance Amount for Pregnant Ladies under JBSY Bihar

To reduce the maternal and infant mortality rate and to promote institutional delivery, provision of providing financial assistance has been made in the Janani Bal Suraksha Yojana. This scheme was initially started in July 2006 in the Bihar state. Under this scheme, the following assistance amount would be provided to pregnant women and asha workers on each institutional delivery.

In the rural areas, each beneficiary women can get upto Rs. 1400 while asha worker can get upto Rs. 400 and additional Rs. 200 would be given on vehicle arrangement. In urban areas, each beneficiary women can get upto Rs. 1000 while asha / anganwadi sevika can get upto Rs. 200.
